A Champion for our Community

Doug Rodriguez knows the importance of fiscal responsibility, sustainable revitalization and a robust local economy. Equally important, he knows that the best leaders speak with the voice of the citizens. Just as he has done as a community advocate for decades, he will listen to the concerns of our residents and be a champion for our issues at City Hall.

With his reputation for sound judgment, proven history of finding real solutions and his endless drive, we can count on Doug to help lead Redondo Beach forward. His vision for Redondo Beach focuses on protecting public safety, preserving our excellent quality of life and revitalizing our city. As our next councilman, Doug will work to:

  • Update the General Plan
  • Continue efforts to revitalize the Waterfront Pier/King Harbor, Riviera Village, Artesia Corridor and South Bay Galleria
  • Enact environmentally responsible programs and policies
  • Increase our parks and open spaces
  • Renovate and modernize City facilities, infrastructure and communication systems
  • Safeguard our neighborhoods and promote public safety and emergency preparedness

Doug Rodriguez

A third generation Redondo Beach resident and the first in his family to earn a university degree, Doug put himself through school while working full time. He married his wife, Lisa, in 1994, and they are proudly raising their family in the Redondo Beach home they bought twenty years ago.

Doug’s interests are many, from K1 Racing, to martial arts, to SCUBA diving, to pottery and the local arts. His biggest fulfillment comes from serving the people and the city he loves. Doug and Lisa have two children, a son and a daughter, both educated in the Redondo Beach Unified School District.

A Champion For Redondo Beach

From safeguarding our neighborhoods as an alumnus of the Citizen Police Academy and Community Emergency Response Team, to his staunch support of the Redondo Beach Unified School System, Doug is driven by his desire to make our city stronger.

Perhaps that is one reason Mayor Steve Aspel and former Mayor Mike Gin have appointed Doug to serve the City on the Planning and Public Safety Commissions. Never content to give less than 100%, he has attended dozens of City Council Meetings and organized efforts to successfully fight harmful legislation and enact revenue-generating ordinances for our school district.
